It seems that I will not receive my Canadian permanent residency card in time to be able to apply for a French visa. I was going (and will still try one more time) to attend a conference in France in May.
After all they had invited my supervisor, Daniel, in the first place…
I am still planning to go to the UK somtime in May to see friends and give a couple of talks.
Corollary: Not all passports are created equal.
