Sunday night we were at an excellent performance by Niyaz, led by the singer Azam ALi, and Ramin Torkian from the former “Axiom of Choice”.

It was very good.

Azam Ali has a very cultivated voice and great comfort with Indian and Iranian music. Besides, as heard on her previous work, “Portals of Grace”, she seems to be quite at home with European Medieval music as well. I like her stuff.

I also liked the ethnic background of the band:Iranians, Indian, Greek, and Italian.

  1. omg! I wanted to go to that, too!! I was at the Narcotango concert (part of the same series) on Fri. & thought, woah, Niyaz sounds like it might be cool. But saddly family duty called & I couldn’t go. :-(

    I fear you may leave TO & I’ll never get a chance to meet you f2f!

    I am still around until September at least and things happen all the time, while I am so busy doing stuff…

  3. :-) I dance tango, so Narcotango was way cool IMHO. But I can see how it wouldn’t appeal to others.
